Lesson: Gen. 12-21

Focus: God's Special Promises to Abraham

Songs: Father Abraham

Reading: The Jesus Storybook Bible: Son of Laughter, My First Hands-on Bible: God's Promise to Abraham

Table: Counting Stars

I felt as if I should have stopped at the glitter, which might have got the point across a little better about not being able to count them all. But once, they saw the star-shaped foam stickers, they pleaded to put those one. But, it actually still turned out to be a great lesson for them in counting.. and as a BONUS, some of the stars were "glow-in-the-dark" so we spent a considerable amount of time in the closet counting (and geeking!) over the cool neon stars and talking about God's promises.

Talking Points: (throughout the day)
Abraham and Sarah
Being old
100
God's Promises
The stars
Babies
Gifts from God

Play: Closet
We just grabbed some light up toys (whatever was on hand) and shut ourselves in the closet. We just so happened to have a night-light pillow that actually projects stars onto the ceiling (a gift for X-mas..) and went along with our theme. I let them turn on and off the closet lights as they wanted to, in order to quench any fears. It actually turned out even more fun than I expected :)

Songs: Ten Commandments Boogie

Reading: The Jesus Storybook Audio Bible: Ten Ways to be Perfect

Movie: Found these on YouTube..

We connected our train together with staples. (That's all I had..) Came out nice though. EZ n Raya glued each car onto pieces of colored construction paper they had preciously cut in halves themselves.

Talking Points: (throughout the day)
Moses on the mountain
Talking to God
Counting to 10
Each Commandment
Obeying Rules
God's People

Play:
We took turns being Moses on the "mountain." I pretended to be God speaking to them and wrote the numbers 1-10 on their fingers as I recited each commandment to the corresponding number.
They were just thrilled to be able to climb the couch without reprimand..lol

Lesson: Exodus 1-13

Songs: He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

Reading: The Jesus Storybook Bible: God to the Rescue

Movie: The Prince of Egypt

 Table: Mess-free water coloring
We each drew a picture of Moses on some paper. Added some water with a few drops of blue food coloring to gallon zip-lock bags, sealed it, then taped it over the picture, directly onto the table.
It was fun for them to try and "part" the water in the bag with their fingers, and try to see the picture of Moses underneath.

Talking Points: (throughout the day)
Moses as a baby
Egypt
Pharoah
The burning bush
The 10 plagues
Parting the Red Sea
God's power

Play: Prince of Egypt
We acted out the story of Moses as a baby. We took turns being his "Mommy" and sending baby Moses down the river in a basket.

My furniture re-arranging actually served as double-duty! We also used it for the parting of the Red Sea. We took turns being Moses. Each would say "With the power of God, all things are possible!" and then put the staff in the sea. Then lead everyone through the water. This lasted about 20 mins. (Eventually they just started running through it, and chasing eachother..)
