Today, I took the class on a whim out of the city.
Clouds were grey in San Jose and it felt like it would rain anyway.
I didn't realize that the beach was a mere 35-40 minute drive,
otherwise I think we would've been doing these field trips a lot sooner.
But if you ask me, I say the absolute BEST day to go to any beach would be..
on a Monday afternoon.
I just centered our lesson around geography and the ocean enviornment.
We talked about seagulls, turtles, fish, whales, starfish, etc.
We studied the sand, the weather, the waves,
and practiced as many shapes as possible.
A man needs his walking stick..
The kids had no problem making up their own things to do.
EZ became the "Protector of the Snacks" while we ate.
It was pure hilarity watching him go after those seagulls every time they came up to our blanket.
We also did some writing activities and games.
EZ spontaneously wrote this letter on his own, as I was writing mine.
Jada pretty much stayed on the blanket mostly once she took her boots off.
She wasn't too happy about the texture of the sand between her toes.
But she'll come around eventually, I think ;)
